Twitter GIF Downloader

Download animated GIFs from Twitter/X — MP4 playback compatible, no watermark, no login

Why are Twitter GIFs saved as MP4?

On Twitter/X, GIF uploads are transcoded to MP4 for smoother playback and smaller file sizes. That’s why most downloaders (including this one) provide an MP4 file. MP4 plays on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, and inside popular editors and presentation software without conversion.

How to Download a Twitter/X GIF (Quick Start)

1) Copy the tweet/X post URL that contains the animated GIF.
2) Paste it into the box above.
3) Click Download GIF and wait a moment.
4) Save the generated MP4 file to your device (desktop: right-click → Save video as… · mobile: tap & hold → Download).

iPhone & iPad (iOS) Instructions

Open this page in Safari. Copy the tweet/X link (Share → Copy Link), paste it here, then tap Download GIF. When the preview appears, tap it to open the menu and choose Download. On iOS 13+, files go to Files → Downloads. If Safari plays the clip instead of saving, tap & hold the video and select Download Linked File.

Android Instructions

Use Chrome (or your preferred browser). Copy the tweet/X link, paste it, and tap Download GIF. When the video opens, long-press and choose Download video. The MP4 typically saves to Internal storage → Downloads. Move it to your Gallery if needed.

Windows & Mac Instructions

In Chrome/Edge/Firefox/Safari, paste the tweet/X URL and click Download GIF. When the preview loads, right-click (or Control-click on Mac) and choose Save video as…. Pick your Downloads folder to save.

Need a .GIF file (not MP4)?

For most uses, MP4 is better (smaller, smoother, widely compatible). If you still need the legacy .GIF format, you can convert the downloaded MP4 using any video-to-GIF converter or common editors (Photoshop, CapCut, ffmpeg, etc.). Tip: keep the GIF’s width reasonable (e.g., ≤720 px) to control file size.
